Assessing Progress

Teachers assess and monitor the progress of all pupils as part of everyday classroom practice. Where a pupil has SEND, we establish a clear starting point and use appropriate evidence to measure progress towards agreed outcomes. This may include attainment information, work samples, observations, engagement, communication, independence, attendance, wellbeing and feedback from the pupil and family. Individual targets and interventions are reviewed regularly through the Assess, Plan, Do, Review cycle. If progress is less than expected, we reconsider the pupil’s needs, teaching approaches, reasonable adjustments and specialist advice so that support can be refined. Parents, carers and pupils are involved in review meetings and informed about next steps.
