Gladiator’s Diamond Inspires Us at Soccer Aid for UNICEF Academy Launch
On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, Livi Sheldon—better known as Diamond from the hit show Gladiators—made a surprise visit to Adderley Primary School in Birmingham to kick off the 2025 Soccer Aid for UNICEF Academy. The initiative aims to engage UK schools in fun, inclusive activities that promote children’s rights and raise funds for UNICEF’s global efforts.
During her visit, Diamond participated in various challenges with the pupils, including goal-scoring competitions and obstacle courses. Reflecting on the experience, she said:
“Visiting Adderley Primary School was an absolute blast – it’s clear how much they love being part of the Soccer Aid for UNICEF Academy and helping to fundraise. Playing in Soccer Aid for UNICEF last year was an incredible way for me to contribute to UNICEF’s work, and now the Academy offers children across the country a fantastic chance to have fun but also help fundraise, ensuring children worldwide can have the best start in life, enjoying playtime and just being young.”
The Soccer Aid for UNICEF Academy provides schools with resources, including lesson plans on children’s rights and accessible challenges, to make learning fun and impactful. Since its inception in 2006, Soccer Aid for UNICEF has raised over £106 million to support UNICEF’s work in helping children worldwide enjoy healthy, happy childhoods full of play.
