World Book Day

We have had an amazing celebration of books today, marking the 20th anniversary of World Book Day! Children and staff came to school dressed as their favourite book characters. Upper school and lower school had special assemblies, in which the best dressed children and staff won some fabulous prizes! Here are some pictures...

Mrs Ashraf, Mrs Timbrell, Mrs Adan & Mrs Safta also recorded some stories for World Book Day. They read them in their home languages of Urdu, French, Somalian and Romanian. You can listen to them by clicking here.

Our staff also made a special effort to dress up as their favourite characters...

These two sisters had their very own books specially-produced in which they were the characters in the stories! How creative!

Children were involved in a range of activities including BookFest, book swap, comic designing and Name-the-book!

This year, ten children's best-selling authors including Francesca Simon, Jacqueline Wilson, David Walliams and David Almond have written special books for #WorldBookDay20 which can be purchased for only £1.

All children will be receiving their special £1 World Book Day token which can be used in exchange for one of these special World Book Day books. Parents, treasure these tokens, and enjoy an outing to your local bookshop. And remember, let the children choose!
