Our young scientists were treated to an inspiring visit to the biomolecular SuperLab at Coventry University yesterday. Children were given a tour of the brand new microbiology laboratory and learnt about the state of the art facilities it offers to its students. Dr Jess Rollason, one of the senior lecturers in the Health & Life Sciences Department, introduced the children to some of the work currently being undertaken by the Masters students in the SuperLab.
Children took part in their own microbiology experiment so they had to get on their lab coats and glasses and inoculate their petri dishes...
Dr Jess explained to the children that the Science & Health Building is one of its kind in the entire UK and was opened by none other than the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Our budding scientists took a great deal from this hands on experience and it has given them lots to think about in terms of their own further education and career paths.
