Paralympic Athlete Visit

We were privileged to have professional paralympian Ben Rowlings at Adderley today to inspire us and give unique career insights to our enthusiastic Key Stage 2 pupils. Children were very excited to meet with him and ask him lots of intriguing questions in a Q&A session.

Ben talked about how he learned to race in his wheelchair at the age of 15 after switching over from swimming because he was allergic to the chlorine in the water. Now at age 20, he has won 20 medals!

Ben showed off his Paralympic medals from 2016 European Championships in Grosseto where he won three bronze medals and gave a glimpse as to what it takes to reach the very top of the sport at a very young age.

Whizzbee, who will be one of the sporting mascots for the World Para Athletics and IAAF World Championships London 2017, taking place at the London Stadium this summer, also payed us a surprise visit!
