ADDERLEY BUSINESS ENTERPRISE, THE CLASSROOM WITH NO WALLS!
Our Enterprise Hub was set up by the children for the children as a new business start-up initiative at Adderley. The Hub consists of a working shop and the Adderley Bank. The start up investment in the business idea of the Enterprise Hub was agreed and spent by the pupil board of directors.
Not only do our pupils learn about enterprise and business, they handle real money to run the Enterprise Hub Account. Whether this is for paying for stock, receiving and checking change, or managing the business accounts. We believe the more experience our pupils have with money, the better developed their skills will become and the more they will enjoy learning.
BUSINESS HAS A ROLE TO PLAY IN EDUCATION AT ADDERLEY PRIMARY SCHOOL
We believe that financial literacy affects every person in the world. For our children at Adderley we believe that it is vital to have the knowledge of financial systems and acquire money management skills to succeed in life.
The Adderley Enterprise Hub is linked to our curriculum in school. The recent investment in a new state of the art Computing Suite and the Radio Adderley will bring together our great belief in linking learning and practical skills for the real world of business. We encourage our pupils to believe that anything is possible if you try! Our pupils are inspired to think and be creative with innovative ideas, to develop business plans to raise investment, and to learn marketing techniques to communicate those ideas.
BRINGING THE WORLD OF WORK ALIVE AT ADDERLEY
At Adderley we recognise that businesses have a role to play in educating children about finances. We aim to launch a new programme encouraging volunteers to come to our school and facilitate sessions with the pupils. Our Business Enterprise curriculum aims to enliven the world of work and strengthen our children’s skills to progress further.
ADDERLEY BANK - ENCOURAGING FINANCIAL COMMUNICATION
Adderley Bank works in partnership with the HSBC School Bank project. But we at have taken it to another level and created a mini Adderley Bank on site, which is set up and run by the school pupils! The project with HSBC is managed by the pupils, for the pupils, with support and guidance of local HSBC branch employees. Pupils are interviewed for the different branch roles, they receive training and support throughout. Our children can therefore learn about managing money and how to manage their own small business.
