Global Canvas Children’s Competition

After successfully getting to the finals of last years Global Canvas Children’s Competition, we were very excited to submit this year’s entry.

The theme of the competition was ‘Healing nature – A planet on the edge’, we decided to base our entry on the Polar Bears and the fact that due to global warming, the polar ice caps are continually melting.

Our Art Ambassadors worked for 3 months in their year group bubbles, it was a real collaborative effort!

We made our entry almost entirely out of recycling; the polar bear is made of plastic bags and newspaper!

We used the following techniques to make our entry:

Sculpture

Collaging

Painting

Carving

Papier Mache

This year the finals took place online due to Covid restrictions, on Thursday 25th March our year 6 Art Ambassadors represented our school and attended the virtual ceremony. Unfortunately, we didn’t win, but we are pleased to have raised awareness to the impact humans have on nature and the steps we can all take to heal our planet.
